Ladies in Black

Why does a shy schoolgirl's summer job in the frocks department of a Sydney department store in 1959 end up reaching into so many other lives? Lisa (Angourie Rice) joins the saleswomen in black, among them the guarded Fay (Rachael Taylor) and the elegant Magda (Julia Ormond), under Bruce Beresford's direction. Each woman wants a different life than the one the store has handed her, and Lisa has her own hopes for what comes after the school year.
