Land of Plenty

Lana (Michelle Williams) comes back to the United States after years abroad and lands in Los Angeles, where her uncle Paul (John Diehl) lives as a reclusive vagabond, still carrying the damage of Vietnam. She finds a man watching the country from his van, wary of strangers and afraid of what he sees around him. Wim Wenders shoots the American landscape as an outsider looking in, and both characters are held in that same wary gaze.
