“1995. When people were harder to reach.”

Ali Jacobs (Abby Quinn) is a teenager in 1995 Manhattan who finds a stash of letters and learns her father, Alan (John Turturro), is having an affair. She tells her older sister, Dana (Jenny Slate), who is engaged and already restless. Gillian Robespierre keeps the two sisters crammed into the family apartment with their mother, Pat (Edie Falco), and the three of them keep circling each other, protecting the secret and quietly blaming each other for it.
