L'Argent

Yvon Targe (Christian Patey), a young fuel-oil deliveryman, takes a forged 500-franc note from a shop without knowing what it is. Robert Bresson, adapting a Tolstoy novella in his last film, follows the note from hand to hand, shop to shop, until it reaches a man who never sees it for what it is. Once the bill reaches Yvon, everything he has starts to be at risk.
