Wong Fei Hung (Jet Li) opens a martial arts school in a Chinese town, only to find it sits right beside a brothel. Wong Jing, working from the template of the Once Upon a Time in China films, sends him into a kidnapping scheme he never meant to find, with Yuen Woo-ping choreographing the fights. Through it all Wong keeps running into Ti Yi-er (Sharla Cheung Man), and the two of them spend most of the film circling each other.
