Last Year at Marienbad

“Extraordinary! Hypnotic! Beautiful! Masterful!”

In a grand hotel during a weekend gathering, a man known only as X (Giorgio Albertazzi) tells a woman, A (Delphine Seyrig), that they met here a year ago. She says she has never seen him before. Alain Resnais, working from a script by Alain Robbe-Grillet, lets X keep talking until his account starts to sound more certain than her denials, and the husband, M (Sacha Pitoëff), watches from the edge of every room.
