The will of a dead practical joker leaves his fortune to four heirs, and the money comes with a condition that nobody reads as a kindness. Each of them must do one thing that goes completely against their nature, among them Deniston Russell (Alastair Sim) and Agnes Russell (Fay Compton). Mario Zampi sets the four loose across 1951 Britain, and every one of them stands to lose a fortune if the task goes undone.
