Lawman

“He gave the West justice right up to its neck... then rammed more down its throat.”

A group of cattlemen, drunk on a night in the town of Bannock, fire off their guns and kill an old man, then ride home to Sabbath without knowing he is dead. Marshal Jared Maddox (Burt Lancaster) follows them with a stack of warrants, while Vincent Bronson (Lee J. Cobb), the land baron who runs Sabbath, offers to pay for the trouble. Michael Winner sets Maddox against Marshal Cotton Ryan (Robert Ryan), an old friend who has to decide where he stands.
