Le Bal

Nobody in the ballroom says a word, yet the same room keeps filling with different people, from the 1920s to the 1980s. Ettore Scola puts a Nazi collaborator, resistance fighters, a waiter and 1960s student protestors on one dance floor, with Marc Berman, Christophe Allwright and Étienne Guichard among the cast. Every song and every step carries a decade of French life, and the dancers have only the music to get them through it.
