In a small French town, anonymous letters begin arriving at the homes of its leading citizens, each signed "Le Corbeau." Dr. Rémy Germain (Pierre Fresnay) is the first target, accused of an affair and of performing illegal abortions, and Henri-Georges Clouzot follows the poison as it reaches the whole street.
