“Raw! Shocking! Savage!”

Maurice Faugel (Serge Reggiani) is barely out of prison when he is pulled into a burglary that should be simple, and the rumor going around is that Silien (Jean-Paul Belmondo), the gangster he leans on, has been talking to the police. Jean-Pierre Melville lets that single doubt spread through the film's nightclubs, apartments and interrogation rooms. Nobody here can be sure who is loyal, and everyone has to act as though they can.
