Le Mans
“Steve McQueen takes you for a drive in the country. The country is France. The drive is at 200 MPH!”
The 24 Hours of Le Mans begins on a June afternoon, and Michael Delaney (Steve McQueen) sits in his Porsche on the grid, still carrying the crash from the previous year's race. Lee H. Katzin shot the film during the actual 1970 race, so the engines and crowds are real. Delaney drives and says little, thinking about the man who died on that track and the widow, Lisa Belgetti (Elga Andersen), who still watches from the pits.
