Michel Bouflette (René Lefèvre), a painter drowning in debts, wants only one thing: the million florins he has just won in the Dutch lottery. The ticket is in the pocket of his jacket, and his softhearted girlfriend Béatrice (Annabella) has given that jacket to an old thief. René Clair sets Michel, Béatrice and his rival Prosper (Jean-Louis Allibert) loose across Paris and stages the whole chase as a musical comedy.
