Le Plaisir

An old man in evening dress slips into a Paris dance hall with a mask over his face, and he keeps dancing until the music stops. Max Ophüls then follows Julia Tellier (Madeleine Renaud) as she takes her girls out of the house and into the country for her niece's communion, and ends on Jean the painter and the model he falls for. Maupassant's three stories each ask what pleasure costs, and what it leaves behind.
