Le Samouraï

“His only friend was his gun!”

Jef Costello (Alain Delon) is a contract killer in Paris who lives and works alone, and he moves through a job as if following a ritual. After a hit that goes exactly to plan, the Superintendant (François Périer) starts closing in, and the men who hired Jef begin to see him as a loose end. Jean-Pierre Melville makes a film about a man whose discipline is the only thing he has left to believe in.
