Sybil Wren (Kay Kendall) wants the last word on her years dancing with "Barry Nichols and Les Girls," and she gets it in a tell-all book. Her fellow dancer Angèle (Taina Elg) sues her for libel, and in court each woman tells the story differently. George Cukor, working in CinemaScope with Cole Porter songs, puts Barry (Gene Kelly) and the whole troupe in the middle of it, with reputations on the line.
