Les Misérables

“The legend comes to life.”

Jean Valjean (Liam Neeson), a man jailed for stealing bread, walks out into 19th-century France and is hunted at once by the policeman Javert (Geoffrey Rush). Bille August follows the chase across years, past Fantine (Uma Thurman) and the young Cosette (Claire Danes), and into the student uprisings in the streets. Underneath it all is the question of whether a man the law has already named a criminal can ever be let go.
