Letter Never Sent

Four geologists cross the Siberian wilderness hoping to find diamonds, and Tanya (Tatyana Samoylova), Konstantin (Innokentiy Smoktunovskiy) and the rest of the party do find them. Mikhail Kalatozov follows the long trek to put the mine on a map that has to reach Moscow. On the day they set out for home, a forest fire closes in, and the four stand among the trees as the sky above them burns.
