Letter to Brezhnev

“A new wave comedy … from Liverpool with Love.”

A letter addressed to Leonid Brezhnev sits at the center of this story, and it starts with a night out in Thatcher-era Liverpool. Teresa (Margi Clarke) wants sex and a laugh, while her friend Elaine (Alexandra Pigg) wants love and a way out of the docklands. Chris Bernard sends them into the pubs and clubs with two Russian sailors, Peter (Peter Firth) and Sergei (Alfred Molina), and the film sets their wish to get away against a city with no work in it.
