Liberté

A group of libertines, driven out of Louis XVI's puritanical court, cross the Prussian countryside in 1774 looking for a place where desire answers to no law. They hope to find it with the Duke of Walchen (Helmut Berger), a German seducer who has grown lonely in a country of false virtue. Albert Serra stages their night in the forest as an argument that pleasure, once cut loose from every authority, makes its own philosophy.
