“FOR FIVE MILLION DOLLARS, HOW FAR WOULD YOU GO?”

A loan shark is assaulted in Hong Kong right after pulling $10 million out of the bank, and the trouble spreads outward from that one withdrawal. A small-time criminal, Three-Legged Panther (Lau Ching-wan), a bank clerk, Teresa Chan (Denise Ho Wan-si), and Inspector Cheung Jin-fong (Richie Jen) are pulled into the same chain of events as the world financial crisis tightens. Johnnie To follows each of them in turn and lets their stories cross.
