Light It Up

On a winter day at a high school in southside Queens, six students end up in an armed standoff with the NYPD, and the film starts before anyone can say how a school day got there. Officer Dante Jackson (Forest Whitaker) is outside, while Lester Dewitt (Usher) and Stephanie Williams (Rosario Dawson) are inside. Craig Bolotin writes the school as short on resources, where the students have stopped believing any adult is listening.
