Lightning Jack Kane (Paul Hogan) is an Australian outlaw in the American West, quick with a gun and louder about it than anyone in town. Simon Wincer sends him through a bungled bank robbery that leaves him with a hostage, Ben Doyle (Cuba Gooding Jr.), who cannot speak. Jack takes the young man on as a pupil in robbing banks, and he keeps planning his last big job.
