“Every child is special.”

In an Indian school where marks and neatness count above everything, eight-year-old Ishaan Awasthi (Darsheel Safary) can't seem to get a single thing right. His mind is on colours, fish, dogs and kites, and his father, Nandkishore (Vipin Sharma), answers the failing grades by sending him to boarding school. Aamir Khan directs and plays the art teacher, Ram Shankar Nikumbh, who takes one look at the boy's kites and fish and starts to wonder what else is going on.
