“Waiting is a group effort.”

Omar (Amir El-Masry), a young Syrian musician, has landed on a remote Scottish island with his grandfather's oud, still carrying it everywhere. He shares a house with other asylum seekers, including Farhad (Vikash Bhai), and sits through cultural awareness classes while they wait on their claims. Ben Sharrock keeps the wait small and dry, and every day it drags on, Omar is further from the music he came here to keep.
