“What if a pill could make you rich and powerful?”

Edward Morra (Bradley Cooper), a writer with a book deadline and no pages, takes a clear pill from an old acquaintance and wakes up able to use every part of his brain. Neil Burger follows him as the drug turns him from a broke man in a dirty apartment into someone Carl Van Loon (Robert De Niro) wants to do business with. Lindy (Abbie Cornish), who knew him before the pill, keeps watching the man he is becoming.
