The hours that changed history.

Abraham Lincoln (Daniel Day-Lewis) is a president exhausted by war, his face lined and his voice thin. William Seward (David Strathairn) negotiates the Thirteenth Amendment through a fractious Congress while his advisors doubt him. Spielberg photographs the White House in shadow and candlelight, letting long conversations breathe, the camera patient as the men argue over the future.
