Lingua Franca

The man Olivia (Isabel Sandoval) has been paying for a green card marriage backs out, and she is left undocumented in New York with nothing to fall back on. She keeps her job as caregiver to Olga (Lynn Cohen), a Russian-Jewish grandmother in Brighton Beach, and begins seeing Alex (Eamon Farren), a slaughterhouse worker who does not know she is trans. Isabel Sandoval casts herself in the lead, and any knock at the door could mean deportation.
