“It isn't always an invitation to a kiss.”

Chris McCormick (Margaux Hemingway), a successful fashion model, is assaulted at home by Gordon Stuart (Chris Sarandon), the music teacher of her teenage sister. She takes him to court, where the case turns on her word against his and on how a woman in her line of work is judged. Lamont Johnson films the trial and its aftermath plainly, keeping the camera on the faces of the people who have to sit through it.
