“Hear my voice.”

Bela (Lúcia Moniz) and her husband Jota (Ruben Garcia) are Portuguese immigrants on the outskirts of London, working to keep their three children fed and housed. A misunderstanding at school involving their deaf daughter Lu (Maisie Sly) brings British social services to the door, and Ana Rocha de Sousa follows the family as the concern grows. If the authorities decide the children are unsafe, Bela and Jota could lose them.
