Lisztomania

(1975)Directed by Ken Russell103 min · RHistory, Music, Comedy
“The erotic, exotic electrifying rock fantasy... It out-Tommy's TOMMY.”

Franz Liszt (Roger Daltrey) is a Romantic pianist in 19th-century Hungary who wants to give up his hedonistic ways, and he keeps failing. Richard Wagner (Paul Nicholas), a fellow composer, is always there to draw him back in. Ken Russell stages Liszt's life as a surreal musical comedy, with Ringo Starr as the Pope and Rick Wakeman as Thor.
