Little Annie Rooney

(1925)Directed by William Beaudine95 minComedy, Drama
“Our Mary as you like her best—a broth of a brat ready to fight at the drop of a hat—and drop the hat!”

Annie Rooney (Mary Pickford) scraps with the neighborhood boys on the streets of a New York slum, a girl more at home in a fight than in a dress. Her father is Officer Timothy Rooney (Walter James), a beat cop who keeps her in his sights, and her brother Tim (Gordon Griffith) is never far behind. William Beaudine films Pickford at thirty-three as a child, and the film stays close to Annie and Joe Kelly (William Haines), the neighborhood boy who has her heart.
