Little Big Man

“Either the most neglected hero in history or a liar of insane proportion!”

In the nineteenth century, a boy named Jack Crabb (Dustin Hoffman) is taken in and raised by the Cheyenne, then later tries to return to the settlers' world. Arthur Penn frames it as the memory of Jack, now extremely old, telling a listener how he came to fight beside General Custer (Richard Mulligan). He drifts between two peoples and never settles easily in either, with Old Lodge Skins (Chief Dan George) watching him go.
