Little Man Tate
“It's not what he knows. It's what he understands.”
In 1991, seven-year-old Fred Tate (Adam Hann-Byrd) is a boy whose mind runs far ahead of the rest of him, and his mother Dede (Jodie Foster) works hard to keep it from being used against him. Jane Grierson (Dianne Wiest) runs a program for gifted children and offers Fred the education Dede cannot give. For her first film as director, Foster keeps the camera at Fred's height, so the adults loom over him.
