Little Miss Marker

Marthy Jane (Shirley Temple), called Marky, is a small girl left at a New York bookie's window by a gambler who can't cover a $20 bet. Sorrowful Jones (Adolphe Menjou) takes her as a marker, and he is a man who hates parting with a nickel. Alexander Hall puts her in the care of Jones and the singer Bangles Carson (Dorothy Dell), and the girl who was supposed to be collateral becomes someone he cannot stand to lose.
