Live by Night

“Joe was once a good man.”

Joe Coughlin (Ben Affleck) came home from the war done taking orders, so he turns to bootlegging and moves his operation from Boston to Ybor City, Florida. There he runs rum through a Prohibition-era port town, and Ben Affleck directs his own adaptation of Dennis Lehane's novel, opposite Albert White (Robert Glenister) and the Klan. The film argues that a man who builds an empire outside the law has to answer for every piece of it.
