Mr. Williams (Bill Nighy) has spent years behind a desk in London's public works department, buried in paperwork, going home each night to a house that feels as empty as the office. In 1953, a medical diagnosis makes him want to feel what living is before it is out of reach. Oliver Hermanus follows him through the stacked files and the bowler hat, a man still at his desk and no longer the same.
