Liz and the Blue Bird

“The truth will break your heart.”

In their last year of high school, Mizore (Atsumi Tanezaki) and Nozomi (Nao Toyama) sit in the brass band club rehearsing a piece based on a fairy tale about a girl and a bird. The song mirrors their own friendship, and neither of them seems ready to say so. Naoko Yamada fills the film with small sounds, a shoe on a stair, a flute, and a girl standing alone in the music room.
