In Fall River, Massachusetts, on August 4, 1892, Andrew Borden (Stephen McHattie) and his wife are found axed to death inside their own home. Nick Gomez follows the daughter, Lizzie (Christina Ricci), from the first accusation into the courtroom, where prosecutor Hosea Knowlton (Gregg Henry) builds his case. Newspapers across the country print every rumor, and if the jury believes them, Lizzie could be hanged.
