Lone Star

“John Sayles invites you to return to the scene of the crime.”

In Rio County, a small Texas town on the Mexican border, a skeleton turns up in the scrub, and it is soon identified as a sheriff who vanished decades ago. Sam Deeds (Chris Cooper), the current sheriff, starts asking questions that lead back to his own father, and John Sayles has him ask them of people who have known each other all their lives. Every answer Sam gets puts more of the town's past, and his own family's place in it, on the table.
