James (John Travolta) and Mollie (Kirstie Alley) want a quiet, orderly household, now that toddler Mikey has a baby sister, Julie. Amy Heckerling lets the two kids narrate their own opinions of the grown-ups, and the grown-ups have plenty to deal with, from Mollie's brother Stuart (Elias Koteas) moving in to Mikey's first attempts at the potty. The Ubriacco apartment fills up with diapers and a sulking older brother, and on top of it all sits the potty, waiting.
