Alan Musgrave (Roddy McDowall) tells his story from a prison cell, and the story is the past year spent granting every whim of Barbara Ann Greene (Tuesday Weld), a beautiful, self-absorbed high school senior. George Axelrod, adapting Al Hine's 1961 novel, aims the satire at progressive education and beach party movies. Whatever Barbara Ann wants, Alan arranges, and it is hard to tell where devotion ends and obligation starts.
