Margaret (Alexandra Daddario), an American English teacher in Tokyo, spends her nights in back-alley dive bars and three-hour love hotels, looking for a way out of whatever follows her. She falls into an affair with Kazu (Takehiro Hira), a Yakuza member who is polished, patient and nothing like the men she meets by day. William Olsson shows a woman who keeps giving herself over to the city and to him, with her grip on her own life getting looser each night.
