Love Affair, or the Case of the Missing Switchboard Operator

In Belgrade in 1967, Izabela (Eva Ras) works the switchboard at a telephone exchange. She falls for Ahmed (Slobodan Aligrudić), a sanitary inspector, a serious young man. When his work takes him away, she is lonely, and her colleague Mića (Miodrag Andrić), a postman with a reputation, keeps coming around. Makavejev cuts the love story against interludes from a sexual-health expert, so the intimate scenes and the lectures never quite sit apart.
