“Somebody's bound to catch the kiss of death!”

In 1979, Jackie Pruit (Jill Ireland) is the girlfriend of the notorious gangster Joe Bomposa (Rod Steiger), and his men have begun to threaten her life. The FBI sends veteran agent Charlie Congers (Charles Bronson) to guard her, hoping she holds evidence against Bomposa. Stuart Rosenberg directs it as a straight crime picture, built from protection details and men waiting in cars.
