Seven years after a meteor strike fills the world with mutated creatures, Joel (Dylan O'Brien) sets out across a hostile landscape to reach his girlfriend in a coastal colony miles away. He travels with Aimee (Jessica Henwick), a scrappy survivor who knows how to move through this new world. By the time Joel reaches the colony gates, he understands that the person he needs to find might not be the one waiting for him.
