Love and Other Cults

“The Team Behind Lowlife Love Bring You.”

Ai Shima (Sairi Ito) spent seven years in a cult commune after her mother sent her there, and she walks out into ordinary life only once the police have broken the group up. Eiji Uchida follows her through the months that come after, among people who seem to have always known how to live outside. The film is plain about what she has to relearn: how to belong somewhere she never chose.
