Love Beats Rhymes

“Let no one hold you back.”

Coco (Azealia Banks), a 25-year-old rapper from Staten Island, agrees to finish her university degree because her parents won't have it any other way. Her spoken word turns out to have a powerful effect on the classroom, and RZA, directing, places Professor Dixon (Jill Scott) and the poet Coltrane (Common) in the rooms where she performs. The film stays close to Coco, a young woman from Staten Island holding a notebook.
