Love Comes Softly

Two months pregnant and newly widowed, nineteen-year-old Marty Claridge (Katherine Heigl) is alone on the western trail after her husband Clem dies. A neighbor, Clark Davis (Dale Midkiff), offers her a marriage of convenience: she gets food and a roof, and his daughter Missie (Skye McCole Bartusiak) gets someone to look after her. Marty takes the arrangement as temporary and sits down at his table, a stranger's child watching her from across it.
