Ida (Trine Dyrholm), a Danish hairdresser who has lost her own hair to cancer, comes home from the hospital and finds her husband with another woman. She goes to Italy anyway for her daughter's wedding, where she meets Philip (Pierce Brosnan), the groom's father. Susanne Bier sets the whole gathering in summer haze, and Ida stands in it wearing a headscarf, her eyes on the sea.
